Women of Civil Engineering

#1 Emily Warren Roebling - often thought to be the first female structural engineer, yet she did not have an engineering degree or any apprentice engineering training. Her father-in-law designed the Brooklyn Bridge, and her husband took over construction after the death of his father. Emily became her husband's eyes and ears on the construction site after her husband was bedridden with caisson sickness. In my opinion, that actually made her the first female construction inspector.
